I believe in living simply. Not rushing here or there, or filling the hours of every day with busyness. Dashing about to get nowhere. I love thrift shopping (who doesn't love a great deal?) and my love for vintage and antiques was instilled in me by my great-grandmother, Emma, for whom this blog and my online store is named.

Happy Thanksgiving!
On this eve of Thanksgiving, I'm sure a lot of you out there are busy with preparation for cooking, hosting, or traveling for this holiday. Today is when I make my pies (apple and pumpkin) and enjoy a night with the family (whoever isn't working, that is).
We have always stayed home as a family with me doing the cooking, Peter outside or in the garage catching up on projects, and the kids just relaxing. I never wanted to cart them around when they were little so it's always been the four of us with the only rule being that everyone has to wear a shirt to the dinner table. Pajamas are all right, too!
Peter always helps with the clean up and storage of leftovers. I usually make sure I have a supply of freezer bags on hand to freeze dinner-size portions for the future. The pies and cranberry sauce and stuffing never seem to make it to the freezer, though.
I hope that wherever you're celebrating the holiday, or how many tasks and chores you have to do, that you will enjoy this special day and know how much you have to be thankful for. Enjoy your family and friends and treasure the time that you have with them.
I pray for traveling mercies for anyone that will be on the highways and byways and on the trains and planes.
Happy Thanksgiving!!

Liane, thank you for the Thanksgiving good wishes. We have one traveler already home and two more coming in late tonight so traveling mercies are appreciated. I laughed about your dogs... My goodness, I've gone from not being a dog person at all to hosting two for Thanksgiving. Should be interesting. A very happy day to you and your family!
