Meet Hank.........

Hank is the newest member of our family. We adopted Hank, an almost 2 year old beagle/basset hound mix, from our next door neighbor. Our neighbor is a hard-working young man (only 20!) who works very long days and nights as an EMT (emergency medical technician) and could not give Hank the attention that a young dog needs. So, when we were asked if we would like to adopt Hank, we jumped at the chance.

Now, some of you may remember that we lost our beloved dog, Abigail, last November to epilepsy. I have been resistant to the idea of having another dog but Hank just melts my heart. He is a very mellow fellow and listens and obeys wonderfully. He's a little guy, about a third of the size that Abby was, and we're getting used to having him pitter patter around the house.
Hank accepted us as his new family readily and with kisses, kisses and more kisses. He loves to hop up into bed with us, as you can see above. The only family member who has an issue with little Hank is Beatrix. We adopted Beatrix from the pound this spring and she has enjoyed our full attention. How has Beatrix responded to her new step-brother? Let's see.......

Yes, that is Beatrix up behind our bedroom TV and on top of my armoire (about six feet in the air) and as far away from Hank as she can be. She quietly comes down at night to eat and 'do her business' but I'm sure that in no time she will at least become tolerant of his presence in her home.

On another note, it has been unbearingly hot here in the Northeast. I have not had a good hair day in weeks and am not fond of sweating without any physical effort exerted on my part. I actually became so cranky that for the first time ever, we bought air conditioners for the house. That is, once we were able to locate some in our area (Thank you, Benny's!!!). I don't think I want to open my electric bill this month, but the cool air feels so good and my family is very happy that I'm happy :o).

More later......

Blessings for a wonderful day!

  2. I'm glad to hear you have added two new members to the Girardin family. We got a new kitten during the North Stonington Fair weekend.. He is helping heal my broken heart from Mr Gray's passing.
I miss Mr Gray so very much, but it is very nice to have a little kitten to love and make me laugh all the time.
I'm very happy you have two new pets to help heal your hearts as well =]
And thank goodness for Air Conditioning without it I wouldnt have a job! =p Hehe I dont know if you know but I am working for Dennis now at Broad Brook Heating and Cooling! I enjoy it quite a bit and get to spend lots of quality time with Halle his German Shepard.
    Love, Katie
